Benin City, November 22, 2025 Popular Nigerian TikTok influencer and baker, known as Candy The Teddy, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly manufacturing and distributing cakes infused with cannabis (commonly called weed cakes The 22-year-old content creator, whose real name is believed to be Precious Oseghale, was picked up in the early hours of Friday in Benin City, Edo State, after weeks of monitoring by the anti-narcotics agents. Sources close to the investigation say the arrest followed multiple viral videos posted on her TikTok page (@candytheteddyyy) where she openly demonstrated how to bake cakes laced with marijuana, complete with close-up shots of the green-tinted batter and captions like Who wants a slice of happiness?and This one hits different. One particularly incriminating video, viewed over 4.7 million times, showed Candy packaging the finished cakes in branded boxes and handing them out to friends on camera while laughing and saying, Delivery nationwide, slide into my DMs. NDLEA officials reportedly traced several deliveries to customers had paid for via bank transfers, leading to a raid on her residence in Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City. During the operation, agents recovered quantities of cannabis sativa, baking equipment, and dozens of already-packaged special cakes ready for distribution. A statement released by the Edo State Command of the NDLEA on Saturday morning read in part: The suspect was found promoting the use of illicit substances through her social media platforms and actively engaging in the sale of drug-infused confectioneries. This is a dangerous trend that will not be tolerated. Candy The Teddy, who boasts over 1.2 million TikTok followers and is famous for her dramatic voice notes, public beefs, and flashy lifestyle, has been moved to the NDLEA custody in Benin for further interrogation. She is expected to be charged under the NDLEA Act for unlawful possession, distribution, and promotion of prohibited substances. Social media has been on fire since the news broke. While some fans are pleading Free Candy, others are mocking the situation with memes captioned From baker to inmate real quick and She wanted to trend, now she’s trending in handcuffs. As of press time, neither Candy nor anyone from her team has made an official statement. Her TikTok and Instagram pages remain active, but new posts have stopped since Thursday night. This arrest comes amid a wider NDLEA crackdown on young influencers and skit makers who openly glorify hard drugs on social media. Just last month, two Lagos-based comedians were similarly detained for similar offenses. Whether this marks the end of Candy The Teddy’s controversial reign on Nigerian TikTok or just another chapter in her never-ending drama remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the streets (and the internet) will be talking about this for weeks.
